Madekwe came from a multicultural family. Born in South London. Both her parents have both been English. Her family was raised in a south London council estate and attended The Brit School at age fourteen. She received her Bachelor of Arts in acting from The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. She was a part of various stages during her high school days, including the King Henry V and Wuthering Heights.
Madekwe's acting career started with Storm Damage. In the years since Madekwe's appearance in Teachers as well as Doctors. Her breakthrough role came in 2007's Woody Allen movie Cassandra's Dream. Ashley Leggat grew up in Hamilton Ontario and was a part of a large family. Ashley Leggat joined Roy and Patty along with her three older siblings: Brett, Todd and Bram and Rob.
